Assignment description
For our client we are looking for a Global Category Manager.
The sub-categories included in the scope of this role are:
- Engineering Services
- Temporary Labour
- Management Advisory Services
- Other professional services, such as Quality & Environment, Accounting, Tax & Audit, Patent Agencies, etc.
As a Global Category Manager, you are expected to
- Drive strategic development of the various sub-categories, to implement future-proof setups that optimize costs and ensure all business units get the external support needed to achieve their strategic objectives.
- Ensure the supplier bases for more re-occurring services are properly equipped with enough supply, standardized contracts, a competition model and a simple request-to-order process.
- Inspire and functionally lead and support local buyers throughout the world
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers
- Execute multinational sourcing projects in close collaboration with local buyers and stakeholders, such as HR, local management teams or specific functions.
- Execute relatively complex sourcings of various service deliverables and outsourced services. A big part of the scope is various engineering services, but there is also a big variety of other services, which makes it both fun and challenging.
- In close collaboration with People Experience, facilitate Contingent Workforce Management by developing processes and help implement systems as needed to get a better control of cost, headcount and competences etc
- Challenge status quo on items such as near/off-shoring, hiring instead of buying, new delivery models etc.
Qualifications
- It is advantageous to possess the purchasing skills listed, but it is not a must.
- A driven individual that has the right general skills and personal profile may also deliver excellent results in this role.

- Proven stakeholder management skills and an ability to communicate and drive change
- Very strong English, written and spoken.
- Strong analytical skills
- Business minded with negotiation capabilities
- The ability to manage a big set of reactive and proactive activities in a structured manner.
- Relevant academic education, such as a degree in finance, business, law or engineering
- Ability to work in a global environment, interacting with different cultures
